Corra's Snowflakes Earrings

SUNDAY is supposed to be a rest day but not for me. Just got back from Jusco after fetching my son from his badminton training session. While trying to depart from Jusco building, my parking ticket got rejected by the machine as it was unable to read the bar code on the card and I couldn't move anywhere while behind, long queue of cars were waiting for me to drive off. Luckily, no one made an attempt to honk me. Told my children to get down and inform the security guard at the entrance and after waiting for five minutes or so, I managed to leave the car park. Well............. so much about that.

Posted below are pictures of two pairs of earrings I completed which resulted from Corra Liew's Snowflakes Earrings Tutorial. This is a simple and elegant Snowflakes Earrings using Wired Chinese Knot. To see more of Corra's creations, go to www.decorshandmades.blogspot.com

I dumped many, many pieces before successfully completing these two pairs. Broke the wires along the way while trying too hard to attach the beads. My fingers were itching to do the third pair after the successful attempt but I managed to stop myself from doing them. I then told myself, "Hey, Emily, you can try them out again whenever you have the time".

Crafted with anti tarnish silver and brass artistic wires and embellished with metal beads, swarovski pearls and bicones.
Length: 1.5 inches, from top of ear wire

Woven Wire Cuff

This woven wire cuff was the result of a free tutorial given out by the very generous Ms Nancy Wickman of wickwirejewelry.blogspot.com. Go to her blog if you would like to see her creations as well as a few other free tutorials.

16g wire was used for the frame and woven with anti tarnish silver artistic wire, round glass bead (actually, it's green in colour but didn't show in the pic) and gold pink 5mm beads.

Silver Coiled Turquoise/Swarovski Crystal Necklace

Since I was quite free yesterday, being a Saturday, I made another attempt at making this necklace. I made a coiled bracelet which I posted in my blog some time ago, so this time I made a necklace.

Started doing the necklace yesterday afternoon, and completed it this morning. More than 20 feet of wire (I used 18g, 26 and 28 g) was used to make this necklace and slightly more than 10 hours to handcoil it around the framed beads. This time I made a slightly loose frames for the beads so that I could coil the wires easily.

This necklace rests at the collarbone and is linked halfway with a length of chain.
Here I used square shape (diagonally drilled) turquoise puff beads, swarovski crystals & pearls,
metal bead caps, various sizes of sterling silver beads and garnet gemstone round beads
around the frames.
(These pics were taken with my new handphone camera, am just testing to see how sharp is the pics)

Spiral Woven Earrings

Ah.......... today is Saturday but half a day has already passed by without me hardly noticing.
I occupied myself for the past couple of days with this pair of earrings, the Spiral Woven Earrings. This technique from Lisa Barth (www.jewelrylessons.com) is actually for a bracelet but I didn't make it long enough for my wrist, so I turned it into a pair of earrings. Here I am using silver wire with black/red seed beads but any metal wire and choice of seed beads could be used.

The above pair measures 6cm in length from the loop of the ear wire. It could be shorten or lengthen (picture below) accordingly.
Silver wire with green/black seed beads.
